The Kerovka simulation is a highly innovative software tool that is used as part of an organised workshop, either in a classroom or in remote format, to deliver an intense experience that helps participants with a wide variety of experience levels to develop skills for dealing with challenges such as managing crisis scenarios, and leading responsibly & sustainably.

What is the role, mission and success measures in the Kerovka simulation?

You play the role of a country manager for an oil and gas multinational, who, in the context of a crisis relating to the company’s operations, has been asked to manage the crisis. Success is measured by the impact on the company’s share price.

What are the limits on numbers of participants in a Kerovka simulation workshop?

We recommend that participants be organised in teams of 3 to 5 people, with a minimum of 3 teams and a maximum of 40 teams.

Kerovka simulation: case studies

A few examples of how Kerovka is used, all over the world (both in classroom and in remote workshop formats), by a variety of clients, in number of different contexts and for a wide range of participant experience levels and backgrounds.

Since its release in 2014, Kerovka has been used every year in its MBA program by one of the leading US business schools. In three consecutive classes on one day, the short run time version is used, which increases even more the pressure on participants to manage a crisis and save their (simulated) employer’s reputation and share price, by working with stakeholders to build trust, managing the 24/7 news cycle and taking appropriate operational decisions in a crisis whose cause is unknown initially.

Kerovka is used at one of Chile’s leading universities in their MBA (full time, executive and multinational) and also CEMS (Masters in Management) programs. The simulation gives students, working in either classroom-based or online teams, a rapid experience of working in a complex stakeholder scenario, learning how to build stakeholder trust and develop communication strategies, and ultimately protect the value and reputation of their organisations.

Prendo, along with a renowned Professor based in the USA, delivers a 1 day workshop, based around Kerovka, in a hybrid format (with classroom and remote participants) for a UK infrastructure company developing a new railway. The simulation brings to life the key challenges of “corporate diplomacy” i.e. how to win the hearts and minds of diverse external stakeholders, the lessons from which participants can then immediately apply to their real challenging scenario.
